benefits of LCD

1. resolution of LCD monitors are higher. meaning more detailed, smoother images.
2. power consumption - a CRT (conventional) monitor can use up to 3 times more electricity.
3. Response time (important for gamers) LCDs are now faster than CRTs
4. Heat generation (CRT much hotter) extensive use can cause burn-out
5. LCDs have much less radiation (if any) than CRTs, which over prolong use, increases the chances of cancer.
6. LCDs dont flicker but produce a constant image. CRTs flicker rapidly, just that we cant see it flicker, but its not good for our eyes.
7. LCDs are able to produce pricisely-natural colours that are easy on the eyes.
8. Many configerations of LCD monitors
9. LCDs support the high quality imagery through DVI connection.

I use a CRT for my main computer. My mother has a LCD and when I was using it my eyes didnt water nor did they start to strain like it would when I use a CRT so I would say yes. But be careful with the connectors for the computer. LCD sometimes uses DVI and CRT uses VGA.

Yes the LCD doesnt emit radiation while the CRT does. LCD runs a lil hot but its safer on the eyes

CRT's have a refresh rate which basically means they never display the full image on the screen at one time. It constantly flickers one half of the screen and then the other half of the screen extremely fast. A refresh rate of 60 times a second is common. The higher the refresh rate, the easier it is on the eyes. LCD's dont have a refresh rate, so the eyes aren't looking at a flickering image, just one static image.

An LDC screen emits less radiation than a CRT, and is less prone to "jitter", which casues eyestrain - the muscles of the eye get tired trying to "track" tiny position changes all the time

Enough with the radiation, that miniscule amount does not hurt you. LCDs are much better for the eyes though, they don't blink like CRTs so they produce much less eyestrain.

LCD is anyday better.
CRT's emit a fair amount of low-frequency radiation which is unhealthy.LCD is much easier on the eyes reducing strain and headaches that sometimes accompany long hours on a CRT.
