Could a rogue wave actually strike a cruise ship and tip it upside down, like on the new movie "Poseidon," based off the old movie "The Poseidon Adventure"? And would Fergie acutally perform on a real cruise ship? I want to be on that cruise, it'd be worth it if it tipped over! Mainly I'm concerned with the first question though. Thanks for your responses!

Yes , of course it could. The wave in the picture was cause by a Tsunami; and a large enough Tsunami could overturn an ocean-liner. Consider the damage done to the countries in the Indian Ocean by the Tsunami a while back. They are very real, and can cause substantial damage.

Most definitely to #1 - didn't you see the news about the cruise ship that was hit by a 70+ foot high rogue wave recently & had to limp home? Stuff like that happens for real. As for the performer, yep, they'd do it for the money, for the exposure, etc.

Rogue waves...Like White Squalls are oddities that are rare on the high seas, but are hard to document, but seemily all fishermen know of them... To answer your question...the new Poseidon is a joke...other then the well protrayed drama, the feasability of a modern day cruise ship capsizing is ridiculious. Honestly, a modern day cruise ship has a 10,000 times better advantage to survive, than Shri Lanka during the Tsunami.

No. If flipped the ship would either right itself or sink. Ships are not designed or balanced to float upside-down like that.

And Fergie might indeed perform, after all she is a singer and has released at least one album.

Yes and Yes.

The thought is that the ship would not stir into such weather but it could happen.

And any performer will do a cruise if the money is there and they want a vacation.

Not likely to happen with technology on the ships today. It is million to one odds that a full size ship would capsize in todays world.

Even if a relatively small comet, asteroid or meteorite hit the ocean then it would produce a wave of gargantuan size that would flip a ship like a lilo in a hurricane!! It would be quite funny to watch......... from a distance.

Yeah my parents get mad if I play All That Remains or similar bands. Deathcore is noisiest for me. My friend listens to it and it doesn't sound like music at all to me just random noise and random yelling.
