I get the impression more people want to wear them nowadays, I have little recollection of people wearing them before, not at school or in the work place, sometimes saw Indians with a sari over their head or Sikhs with turbans. That didn't bother anyone.

Are we becoming intolerant? Are we feeling provoked?

Well, let us support our sisters. Let's all wear the veils and then it won't signify anything at all. And in fact, the men should wear them too. That way, no one is proving a point other than it is a ridiculous garment, hot, uncomfortable and restrictive.
And I'm sure God can only look on in amazement at the nuttiness of his followers. Why would anybody want to do this? To stop people looking at them? Why did he give us faces???? So that people could see them! We're all going mad.

People can dress exactly how they like as far as I'm concerned. I'm a pensioner and I've seen it all - including pink and green hair, the lot. If people wish to wear veils, crosses, turbans or anything else, it's their free choice.

Culture has nothing what so ever to do with government. It is a matter for the people and their traditions and beliefs. In Wales there is a druidic order, the Gorssedd, to take command and control of Welsh culture. I recommend a similar system to any other cultural group of folk.

No one, not even in their wildest nightmare, would dream of contradicting the Archdruid of the Island of Breten. Not even the Queen.

The face accounts for 95% of the message during a face-to-face conversation.

If you're happy for someone to not get 95% of what you are trying to say then sure, wear it. But don't expect me to understand what you are trying to convey.

Communication is bad enough these days ( see the standard of english in the answer from lubz )

Perhaps the reason we have ll this talk now is that many people have wanted to say it, but felt they would be marginalised as racist. Afterall, most of us do not know what is important, or not, to Muslims. For example, I would have had no clue that drawing Mohammed would be such an insult.

And why should I know that? Before anyone says I should know plase ask yourself what you know about the Scientist Heaven Integration Temple religion to which I belong.

I think a very small number are now wearing the veil simply to provoke reaction in the same way that a small number of young western females do by the way they dress. The veil is a personal and cultural preference and not something their religion dictates.

Because of that women up north who went for a job in a school not wearing her veil, got the job as an English teacher and then insisted on wearing her veil. When asked to take it off she refused and got sacked.

I think Muslim woman are now in a position where the country and adhered to their every whim and now they are going to the extreme to provoke reaction.

The veils, I believe, are personal choice by the woman wearing them. They have nothing to do with religion.....they are not compulsory within their beliefs

They are enjoying all the trappings of the western world and despite all the mayhem of suicide bombers etc they have been received here quite well.
Why would they want to make waves.........I don't understand, surely they are just making more enemies
