'John S' most people have forgotten that one of the first things Brown did was to help himself out of the pension funds which has had the effect of lessening the amount many people will have as pension. Of course public amenities have to be paid for but with a degree of care. What is happening now is that more and more taxpayers money is being squandered by a government that couldn't run a corner shop.

Yes it is amazing how much it has increased.
Notably, the stamp duty level hasn't increased at the same rate as house prices. Its outragious that the average house price is in the top rate stamp duty band.
Road tax has pretty much doubled, and the banding is a joke when even a 1.6 litre car means a £190 rfl.
Inheritance tax, well you work all your life paying tax and then you dont even get to pass on your wealth to the next generation, old age care, means testing and inheritance tax takes care of that.
Pensions, I'm sure they will have that too.
Add in double fuel prices (which also means double tax revenue), if this is included in the inflation calculation it more like 10% this year
So yes in summary you work all your life for the state, enter the world with nothing and leave it with nothing.
Certainly won't be voting for labour.

I don't think many people would mind being taxed in this country if they knew that the its citizens were getting the services they both paid for and deserve. So that pensioners could have a decent standard of living having worked hard all their lives for a pittance of a pension, and so that they and any other scared person suffering poor health could get the care they need and deserve. However we are being taxed for many reasons without merit, not least the Iraq "war".

the individual needs to take his or her financial education seriously, and learn the ways the rich use to get away from taxes. It is true the government taxes everybody to hell, but guess what, the rich people pay much less tax in proportion to their income, than middle class people.
it\s no use complainin about gettin taxed, find the ways around it.
Start by readin \rich dad poor dad/, or any of the other books in that series by Robert t Kiosaki
I think it is important to get the government to account for the tax revenue they have taken, how? Freedom of information act.

Should be b****y obvious. The Tories cannot afford tax cuts either. We, as a nation, spend too much on public services. So what do we chop first - police, schools, hospitals, the army, dole money, council houses, state pensions ..... ?

Most people are already well past the point of Tax meltdown. Most are subsidising their income with credit cards.
