Antibacterial products kill all bacteria (or most) which includes the beneficial ones that we all need. Also, the strongest, resistant bacteria will just come back stronger once they overcome the antibacterial product. Your friend needs to develop a bit of immunity, i.e., needs to "get dirty" once in awhile and not try to kill every germ there is.

Actually, he may be using them TOO MUCH. Studies show that using anti-bacterial soap, spray, wipes, etc. actually cause the bodys own defense system to break down and weaken. Think about it, why would your immune system need to be strong if you are not using it? Your friend could be wiping down everything, but come in contact with 1 tiny little particle and get sick since he now has a weak immune system.

That or he needs to change the filter in his home (Heater/Air unit).

Qoute from web page listed below:

"In the study, published in the March 2, 2004 journal Annals of Internal Medicine, people who used antibacterial soaps and cleansers developed cough, runny nose, sore throat, fever, vomiting, diarrhea and other symptoms just as often as people who used products that did not contain antibacterial ingredients.

The researchers pointed out that most of the symptoms experienced by the study participants are typically caused by viruses, which the antibacterial soaps don't protect against. And for the symptoms like vomiting and diarrhea, which may be caused by bacteria, the people who used regular soaps had no greater risk than those who used antibacterial products."

There are a whole range of things that can cause illness. Viruses are not bacteria. Hayfever is not related to bacteria etc

It could be that he has spent his whole life avoiding bacteria and is now more susceptible.

I wonder sometimes whether biting nails, playing outside, picking of noses etc is really such a bad thing. It could be that there is a degree of immunization going on. That is, minute amounts of different bacteria causing the immune system to get better at dealing with it.

The other problem is that you cannot control every environment you encounter. You can't filter the air you breathe unless you are that obsessed that you wear a mask.

I would imagine that generally healthy choices would prevent bad health more than some expensive wipes. I can't believe how obsessed people are with hygiene.

I am clean, but not obsessive compulsive clean!!!!!!

Antibacterial products do kill most bacteria. But it's extremely hard to wipe everything that you come in contact with, so he's probably picking up viruses from other people, doorknobs, surfaces, etc.

We have Lysol spray and wipes. We use them on our counter tops and in the diaper change area. Other than that, we don't use them very much. And we hardly get sick at all.

Maybe he is actually allergic to something in his home (or even the Lysol products he is buying).

If he washes his hands frequently, eats a balanced diet (and/or takes a multivitamen), and gets enough rest, he shouldn't be getting sick all the time. He could have some other serious medical problem and should consult a physician.

i'm no longer real confident. even nonetheless it fairly is an fairly exciting question. i think of the respond lies in how literal you opt to take Darwin's concept. interior the very literal experience, confident. i think of you may argue you are able to in all probability alter the destiny. bear in mind nonetheless that almost each residing element has found out to adapt. So faster or later those germs are going to construct up a tolerence for the germicide, mutate and you will no longer be waiting to kill them with that germicide. Then those germs are going to adapt into something that they weren't meant to. i think of you're screwed the two way.
