Put a good case to your ICT administrator for unblocking it. I'm sure he has a very good reason for blocking it and will explain if you ask him politely.

I cannot answer this question based on the information you've provided. Your admin could be using any kind of method to block websites, the answers could be limitless.

Why would an admin do this? Well if the website is not offensive and is not 'unrelated' to school work, then it may be that the site demands more bandwidth that the school's connection can supply. As for the first two reasons, well thanks to parents that like to sue schools for letting kids have access to porn, web cams, and chat rooms, admins have to control the kinds of websites that are accessed via the schools network otherwise the school gets shut down.

You may as well get used to it, because its likely that when you get a job that involves a computer, your access will be restricted as well. And while hacking through the firewall at school will get you detention or suspended, doing that kinda thing at work will get you fired, on the bad end of a police investigation and a $350,000 litigation suit.

But based on what you've got here, I can see two clear options:

a) ask him/her nicely to unblock it. try and negotiate a deal.
b) watch the site at home, a friends place, or at an internet cafe instead.

Sorry to hear about your loss :(

Do you really think it's worth getting rusticated from the school for?

If they blocked it, it's for a good reason.

Don't throw your life away over this kind of crap, kid.
