Numerology is any belief in divine, mystical or other special relationship between a number and some coinciding events. It's an occult science that I consider fascinating. I started to study numerology because of my obsession with Mathematics, Geometry. What I discovered it's really incredibble.

May I recommend "The History and Practice of Magic" by "Paul Christian", a person of at least three other names. This work in French was written in the early 19th century and was translated into English in the 1960s. Published by The Citadel Press of New York, 4th printing 1969, Library of Congress Catalogue Card Number 63-21202.
This contains a lot of information about numerology, the "correct" casting of horoscopes, divination by dreams, talismans and so forth. There are examples of the numerological systems used by "Count Cagliostro" for instance. At a mere 600 or so pages it's a doddle to read. If you can understand it you will know as much about numerology as anyone else. For competence in astrology you should have a basic understanding of planetary motions as well.
Other occult authors you should know include Eliaphas Levi, John Dee, L. Ron Hubbard and Aliester Crowley. Naturally they will tend to contradict each other. You'd be better spending your time studying accountancy.

Numerology is not what you think it will be. I looked at a book on it in junior high, thinking it would be cool. It's not, and neither was Miss Cleo. Sorry to burst your bubble.
