serendipity is the gud luck of making unexpected and fortunate discoveries

Word History: We are indebted to the English author Horace Walpole for the word serendipity, which he coined in one of the 3,000 or more letters on which his literary reputation primarily rests. In a letter of January 28, 1754, Walpole says that “this discovery, indeed, is almost of that kind which I call Serendipity, a very expressive word.” Walpole formed the word on an old name for Sri Lanka, Serendip. Serendipity means a thing of beauty with flora and fauna, which will be a joy for ever. It comes from the work "Swarna dweep", as the island of Srilanka was then known as. Do you know that there is a theory that the Gardedn of Eden, was actually in the island of Swarna Dweep, and after their banishment from the Garden, by the God, Adam and Eve are said to have left the island through the bridge, called the Adam's Bridge. Serendipity is the knack of making pleasant discoveries by accident. It is a word coined by Horace Walpole in the folk
tale "The Three Princes of Serendip" ( Serendip was a former name for Sri Lanka).
Example:
He did not gain his great wealth through the toil of his own hands. Rather, it was his serendipitous find of
gold nuggets on the church picnic the put him on easy street.
