a lot of times (lately) I find myself daydreaming about the kind of appartment I'd like to have; something simple but stylish.

the problem, as always, is financial, :)) i know i may never have what I desire but I just can't stop thinking about it.

how do I deal with this little escapist fantasy

thanks

I just answered this elsewhere.

Set goals

Save money

Get a loan

Buy and furnish your apartment.

Make your dream come true! :)

Very good question in my view.

What I have found is that the day-dreaming is probably a 'creative' outlet that is actually both natural and needed.

If the finances are very restricted, even though you cannot have exactly what you envision in your imagination, still, you can probably manage some part of it that is meaningful. You can always do something. You can find a really great piece of furniture that always goes with you, no matter what space you live in. You can find an artifact. The bottom line is you can always build something yourself if you structure your time properly. Gradually, slowly, and at times imperceptibly, you will find you have inched your way toward your mind's image. It takes as long as it takes.

All of us imagine better circumstances - the 'dream' place. Take a look at the great Orson Wells film "Citizen Cane" again. Even with all that wealth, what really mattered to him in the end was his boyhood sled that had brought him so much joy. It was called "Rosebud", or had that name on it. No matter what space you find yourself in make sure that "Rosebud" travels with you.

The key is to find things, people, that really mean something to you. Accumulate gradually in accordance with your budget. You can always do something to improve exactly where you are and appreciate something about it in the present tense.

Dream, just don't dream to excess. Keep it attainable, then it is not really an addiction, nor escapism. Outwit your imagination by making the best part of it actual.

I apprreciate your question because it has many applications.

Why deal with it?
It's a fantasy only if you have no way of getting it done.
The best way is to begin planning on how to get into that apartment.
How much money do you need to move in, and how much to stay?
What income do you need every month, and how do you get it?
How many hours at what job or jobs would it take?
Make it a plan, not a day dream.
If you can plan it, you can do it!

If you don't have dreams ..some thing to aim for in life ...
whats the point of living..
Its quit normal for you to think about the future ...
I been doing that ever since i remember my self .i always dream of my next project..now it is like yours.. a home..
but on a Mediterranean island.. l am half way done ..and my dream wont be completed until next summer ..then i will daydream another project..
