This poor child lives in poverty and squalor but just because madonna is a celeb and ridiculously rich, should she be able to just pick up a child and jump the queue so to speak?

I agree with you, now just because she has money and just waltz's in and picks any child i don't think that its fair. People like you are i couldn't do that. I would love to have a couple of them kids live with me, i may not have her money but i would love them kids more that she would. I watch it on TV and i was sick, the way she just walk by the other kids. It would break your heart. I only have 1 daughter and shes 22 now. but when she was born i was told i could not have anymore i was a wreck. My daughter has a son of her own now but i am only 42 and i would love to have some of those poor kids here with me

what would you do if you had the possibility? rescue at least one child from an awful future or just leave it and say somebody else will do it? I'm from Africa and I know the colour of poverty, every reasonable african think that this child is lucky, unless Madonna has a bad reputation as a mum. Is she a good mum? will she be open and let that child keep a bond with her natural family?, will she be open enough and not lie to that child? if yes, then theree is nothing to worry about, she is his guardian angel. Believe me ther is no fun seeing your child dying from a ridiculous illness just because you can not afford medicine(that happens everyday), there is no joy seeing your child staring at someone eating because he is so hungry, there is no satisfaction seeing grow knowing that he will never do better than you. Forget about he extended family they are no better. Some say Madonna could do better by donating...that's a brilliant idea but it's up to her. She is a human being before being a celeb. I love what she did.

Although I believe that adoption is a wonderful thing, I think that it is a shame the people forget about procedure if the right amount of money is involved. Fortunately, it appears that Madonna is a very good mother. Her children appear to be happy and loved. The problem that I have with the situation is the fact that when the info was first leaked Madonna denied that the rumors were true. Why did she deny trying to adopt this child, if her intentions are honorable. After I found out that she indeed was adopting from Africa, I started to wonder if her intentions were as honorable or if adopting poor, needy children from 3rd world countries is the "in" thing to do in Hollywood right now.

Personally i believe it's an absolute disgrace. Normally adopting a child woUld take years, yet this has-been lands in Africa and leaves a few days later with a kid in tow.
Fair enough that child is going to have all the luxuries and material belongings any child could ever want but will also be followed around by the press and hounded for the rest of its life. probably get hooked on drugs and end up dead by the age of 25.
Why didnt she just donate to the orphanage instead of dragging the poor kid into her horrid little world.
I mean, this is a woman of 48 years who really believes she is 21 and that its ok to ponce around in a leotard for christs sake!
And another thing, along with that horrid Jolie woman, they kids the 'pick' from these places are always the cutest ones, i mean what Hollywood star wants ugly kids. What better than a good looking accessory hanging off your arm. It's effing disgusting!!!! She should be ashamed. EXPLOITATION IS WHAT I THINK!

I think it would be far better for the "celebs" to help the people of the country to have the skills and living conditions to bring up their own children within their own families. As for jumping the queue and not going through the proper channels - outrageous. What will the celebs do when this current trend is no longer in vogue?

Was amused that the boy's father hadn't heard of Madonna but had been told she had enough money to give him a privileged upbringing.

It is good, but at the same time i do think it is wrong. Madonna has so much money she could put into the community, set up a childcare centre so that the father didn't have to put his child up for adoption due to no mother at home, she could arrange trust funds. She already has to healthy children leave adoption to others and provide for those who need the financial help.

One the whole though she will be giving the child a better life, downside she could give the community a better life by contributing more to them.

No, but money and celebrity buys a lot of things it shouldn't. There are so many women out there that desperately want children and can't get them. Or they don't have the money to do the "private" adoption thing. Same thing as buying a child in my opinion. And these 'normal' women would probably be stay-at-home moms and not having nannies taking care of the child all of the time or dragging it all over the country form one concert to another. The women that would be real 'hands-on' moms are the ones that get left out.

i believe the child will have a better quality of life with her. the child will want for nothing whereas the prospects aren't so good if he wasn't adopted by madonna. also i just read in the paper that the father claims he didn't know about the adoption and had only put his son in the orphanage temporary. But i also read a few days ago in the same paper that the father was happy madonna was adopting him and she had promised to return with him for visits. its hard knowing what to believe.

Anyone who can adopt a child and offer them the life every child deserves is doing a good thing. But I don't agree that they should be allowed to jump the queue, it is not fair on everyone else that has to follow the rules to the letter. Just because they are celebrities does not mean the law should bend for them.
