Sorry mate, no chance that late in the year.

In Melbourne it's been unseasonably hot in the past month, so all the snow has already disappeared for the most part. By the time December comes around, the only thing you'll see in the snowfields is likely to be massive bushfires.

On the other hand, the beaches will be great! The latest you'll really see snow on the Australian mainland is September.

I'm really sorry mate but there isn't really any snow in Australia around that time of the year.....in Melbourne and Sydney the temperature can get be in 40's degree celsius...and mountains around Melbourne...well foreigners don't usually realise just how massive our country is so mountains around Melbourne are still a long drive away and the snowy mountains are a long, long, long drive away, and they wouldn't have snow-especailly not with the summer were gonna have (hottest eva recorded it is predicted) just wild flowers......but if you go next door to New Zealand for a couple of days you might find some...and the expense won't be massive.....but yeah wrong time of year...you've picked the hottest time of year to go to a really hot country...but you will get to experience a summer christmas (if you're from the northern hemispere).

No, none at all, way too hot!

But if you have time, come over here to kiwi land (new zealand) its only a 3 hour flight from Sydney, but if you can't I hope you have a great time with the kids.

There is still pleanty of snow on the hills here

No chance. In fact, this year has been one of the worse ski seasons on record so there wasn't even much snow in the middle of winter (except the man-made stuff).

From my observation there are likely to be patches on the southern slopes of the higher hills around Charlotte's Pass. These will be small, even early in December. We have already had two 26C days in Canberra so be quick!
