It is contained in the hymn known as "Jerusalem" from William Blake's[1757-1827] poem:"And did those feet in ancient time" (who in turn had taken the phrase from II Kings 6:17).The lyric to the hymn Jerusalem is based on the preface of Blake's "prophetic books", Milton: a Poem.

The text goes like this:
And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England's mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen?
And did the Countenance Divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Amid these dark Satanic mills?

Bring me my bow of burnished gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!

I will not cease from Mental Fight,
Nor shall my Sword sleep in my hand,
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant Land.

"Jerusalem" is considered to be England's most popular patriotic song, often being used as an alternative national anthem. "Jerusalem" is the unofficial anthem of the British Women's Institute, and historically was used by the National Union of Suffrage Societies. The text of the poem was inspired by the legend that Jesus, while still a young man, accompanied Joseph of Arimathea to the English town of Glastonbury. This made the hymn "Jerusalem" to be sometimes called the "Glastonbury Hymn."♥
