I will not speak for the UK as I am a US citizen. In the United States we have a democratically elected government. The people choose their leaders. I know there are people who believe that elections are stolen, but I honestly consider this a case of sore losers. I will admit that many elected leaders appear to be unwilling to listen to the will of the people, but we still have the power to change that through elections. If more people would exercise their right to vote we might see meaningful change. Further people must demand an end to lobbying in order to eliminate the systematic corruption of the system by those of means. This idea of grand global conspiracies is detrimental to the process overall. By assigning this cloak and dagger mentality to the system you in effect disenfranchise yourself with the attitude that you cannot change the system because of the faceless power brokers acting against your will. The simple fact is people get the government they vote for and if they allow the status quo to exist then change never occurs. If you truly want change, think critically, get involved, vote and propose positive change that will rally the masses, not doom, gloom, despair and crippling apathy.

Democrats in the US are not all hypnotized and they are anxiously anticipationg good election results in a couple of weeks. There will likely be a better balance of power, if not an immediate change of course.
Don't underestimate the power of propaganda. It greatly influences voting and citizen satisfaction or discontent. The airwaves and cable are full of it in the US. In Britain, you get much more diversity of opinion. And your PM even has to answer to Parliament and argue his views there! Bush answers to no one, people who boo are arrested! and his speeches contain little more than slogans and buzz words. But apparently this placates just enough Americans to keep him and the neocons in power.
The comment under mine -- love it or leave it -- proves my point. Sad.

So leave. Go live in another country that is better than where you are now. Take action. Pack up. Get out if it is so bad. Flee quickly. Don't hesitate. Nothing will happen unless you make it happen. Or, shut up and do what you should be doing to make your country a better place to live.

The real "conductor" is God. Yes, the heads of our governments are puppets, as you and I are. You had better start listening.

If the U.S. you would disappear - probably end up in Guantamo bay.
In the UK you would be publicly rubbished as a communist/terrorist/whatever other crimes they can pin to you, and ostracise you. They'll sue you for libel, and financially ruin you.
Both, that is, before you could cause real turmoil.

I know you're not alone too. There's you and there's the voices in your head. Switch to the sugar-free Kool Aid and take your Prozac.

And you are in violation of Yahoo regulations about repeated postings of the same question.
