let your sister be. if she is doing something destructive to herself, then talk to her ~ if you, yourself, sincerely want to help.

You should show her an example of success and happiness. What I mean is that her life has been very dramatic. When people are experiencing difficulty it is easy to draw negative emotions from both themselves and the people around them. I am not looking for a Prozac moment but instead idea's for change. The persuasion can come from direct verbal cues or from knowing what she really likes and then talk about some new goals. We all have dreams that have been pushed aside. If anyone knows her good side it will be you. Good luck.....

You have a bee in your bonnet, meaning this girl is not going to change until she wants to, and your parents are just as bad, seeing her through rose colored glasses, it seems. Regardless, if they want to try to do anything, it is really impossible for you to do anything, as long as she has parent's backing up her bad behavior. Just try to get out of the house, if you can, find a room mate, get a job, or part time if you are a student. If you are 20 yrs old, you could possible swing it. Maybe your parents want to be her enabler, and want the child to live with them. All you can say is what you feel and take her out of the house if and when you talk to her. You have to start planning a way to get out of the house, and have your own life. Good luck. People have to want to help themselves or they just won't.

Wow, why would anyone want to be like that anyway. Start being that way towards her. See how she likes be even a little worse if you can. She will eventually see that being the way she is is not best for her or anyone. She will come around. You just have to give her the same treatment in return. It always worked for me. I wish you the best of luck.
