I am 25 male and have been getting mild aches in and around my knees and they click and don't feel as steady as usual, has come on quite gradually, nothing severe but annoying and worried it will get worse!

Anyone had a similar experience or diagnosis with similar symptoms?

Mine have been like that for over 30 years.
I mention it to the doctor occasionally, he looks and says it might turn into a problem one day.

I also had this in my knees which i just ignored for several years - after childbirth (which thankfully you wont have to worry about!!) I also had it in my hip. Then eventually my ankles. Thats when I eventually saw the dr about it.

My advice to you is the same as every one else - see your Dr. It may not be arthritis related but the sooner you get it looked at the better as there are plenty of preventative things that can be done for this or any other condition which may be causing your knees probs.

Also worth thinking about an oesteopath or chiropractor - but choose a good one!!

Actually, I had the same thing. I was getting a lot of pain in my knees and I always seemed to be twisting them. I spoke to my doc about it, and it turned out that I had fallen arches. That the arch that runs between your big toe and your heel. I was putting all my body weight onto it and it was making my knees twist. This was what was causing the pain. I got some foot supports that had padding around the arch area and it made me walk straight again. The pain went and after wearing them for a couple of weeks I didn't need them anymore.

Yes me, I have had operation on cartlidge on right knee at 23. Playing footie on hard surfaces for too long.

Best thing to do is build the muscles up around the knee to take pressure of joints.

check net for best exercises to suit what you find enjoyable, There are lots to choose from. Anything exept squats will be good.

Forget glucosamine etc as these are superficial. Always run on as soft a surface as you can. try and lose weight if you are overweight in any way.

OTC anti-inflammatory can help the discomfort. For some human beings shark cartilage can help. attempt doing non-weight bearing workouts including water aerobics. while you're over weight loosing weight will help.
