Do not even consider it. Love the unborn and if you wish to bear a normal child. Otherwise, you run the risk of having a special child who demands your love too.
I quote from "When a pregnant woman drinks alcohol, so does her unborn baby. There is no known safe amount of alcohol to drink while pregnant and there also does not appear to be a safe time to drink during pregnancy either. Therefore, it is recommended that women abstain from drinking alcohol at any time during pregnancy."
Also, "New Warnings as Even Low & Moderate Use of Alcohol During Pregnancy is Found to Cause Subtle Learning and Behavior Problems in Children. Various environmental and chemical exposure factors can cause learning disabilities, hyperactivity and other disorders by damaging the delicate brain growth process in the unborn child during pregnancy.

Recommendations in the U.S. are stricter than in other countries. I think because, Americans in their typical gung-ho fashion believe that if a little is ok, a lot is better. For example, the Chinese have been drinking ephedra tea for hundreds of years with no ill effects, but when Americans use it as a diet aid, now all of a sudden ephedra must be banned. Same principle - ban alcohol entirely otherwise people will drink.
I think that certainly you should try not to let any alcohol pass your lips, however some people are asking like a few swallows of alcohol is like arsenic. Depends on why you are asking too - if you're considering terminating because you got drunk before you knew you were pregnant - don't. Babies are conceived all the time that way and everything is fine.

Any amount of alcohol is harmful during any stage of pregnancy. It causes birth defects, low birth weight, liver problems, learning difficulties, and other life long health problems for the child. If you're pregnant and you are drinking, you better stop. Because you are harming the not only yourself, but you are harming the baby.

Any amount could be harmful. If your willing to take the risk and not give your unborn child the chance at a normal life right from the start than maybe you should think about not having kids. If your desire to drink is that powerful then you should seek out a 12 step program.

There are many , many issues involving alcohol that is induced while pregnant and how it affects your body when pregnant. Most human bodies have what we call enzymes that are produced to alter the positive effect versus the negative affects to your unborn child. He or She eats what you eat and that is the best rule of thumb to go by.
Your body will produce an enzyme to protect your unborn child to a point, but excessive use of alcohol overruns this immunity and then damage can occur to your unborn fetus.
Even though, alcoholic Mothers that have beautiful babies doesn't necessarily mean that unborn child was not infected, it highly possible that the baby will grow up to become an alcoholic and the odds that this unborn fetus growing in the Mothers womb will not have some kind of problem that will develope later after birth.
If you are pregnant, it is your full responsibility to insure that your unborn baby gets everything it needs to grow healthy...should you choose to drink while pregnant means to accept the consquences if anything goes wrong even if your child is born deaf or with a short arm or even blind, you will have to live with that fact and there are some Mothers today that can preach they have consumed no alcohol what so ever when pregnant and cannot explain the disability's in their children when she so whole heartedly did her best to feed that baby the right things to insure a healthy baby born. There is no gurantee....anything can go wrong, so why put your baby in harms way anymore than what your up against in having a healthy baby simply because your selffish ways of consuming alcohol are more important to you than what's growing inside of you.
Should you choose to do anything you know could harm your child you best measure yourself right!!
When my wife got pregnant, I banned her from smoking and drinking because I wanted my baby to get the best it needed in her womb while growing and the result is completely wonderful. After birth of a healhty 5 lb baby Boy his Mother eventually began to smoke again and drink alcohol, but I stayed on her butt to not do anything like that while pregnant and it was hard for her, but she did it because I made her believe in doing the right thing for that unborn child. My Son graduated from High School with honors and now is in College and that doesn't have anything to do with Mothers drinking alcohol or smoking while pregnant, but why take a chance?

Any alcohol during the first 12 weeks of preg is harmful. The baby is growing and developing at this time and is very susceptible to any outside influences.
Due to the risks of fetal alcohol syndrome, I would never recommend any drinking while preg. My friend suffers from that because her mom didn't really care about the preg.
Please DON'T DRINK WHILE PREGNANT.

Any amount is harmful, especially during the months (1- about 4) when the baby's organs are growing. Please just don't drink. The side effects the baby will have are the one's that can be prevented if you just make the right choice. It's not fair to the little one.

What is it with hysterical people on this board like the ones above? actually all the people are incorrect. Doctors in the UK advise no more then 2 units once or twice a week, 1 unit - 1 small glass wine. However, if you can live with out it that would probably be better. It makes me feel sick anyhow!!!
Hope this helps
