There seems to be an infestation of them in my garden.
Can they be killed with ordinary insect spray?

According to several leading university studies the best thing you can do is get three tubes of caulk and a caulk gun and go around your house, especially on the south and west sides, and fill every crack and hole that you can find. It's the hard way but if you do it well it takes care of the problem for years. I had 3 in my house all last winter. Added bonus: this also keeps out a lot of other pests like spiders and ants and millipedes, etc.

find areas of your home that they can get in and cover with screen wire or caulk the places.these birds are very small and they can get into small openings.they are much like mice. dont ever use poison to kill animals you may start an epidemic and end a species

Dunno but be careful coz they bite!

I was in southport one summer and a swarm of them started attacking our dog, so we tried brushing them off.
The dog ran in sea and they started biting us so we ran in the sea too....
