Not really! What does the word myth really mean? The idea of myths is to confuse people to hide mystical doings... witchcraft
happenings from the prying eyes. Witches don't want to deal with those nosy busybodys. Some Witches even believe that the
less others know about witchcraft then the more power for themselfs Other witches believe an opposite.the more people that use witchcraft the more powerful it gets! I think most unexplainable things can be attributed to witchcraft, or wicca.
Notice I said most not all cause demonalogy is responsible
for some of the unexplainable things.
We must not forget that we are spirit encased in flesh. This
earth we must learn feeling.. touch whether we are good or bad and our true spirit.. when we know all we need to know then we
can leave this world!
I useto astral travel but can't do so since been under a CATT
Scan. It put me out of phase!
myths hide truths that can't be explained!

You have a key point in your description, if I drop the all from it. Somethings in the past were inexplicable, but do give them credit for trying. Let us just take the great unexplainable, creation. In our history we have gone from it always being "just so" to creation by sacred talking animals, to humanoid gods, to always existing stable mechanistic god created, to expanding, to collapsing, to big bang expanding, to accelerated expanding, to super string, to M-brane theories. Creation is still unexplained and unexplainable. I am not religious by the way. Other stories were fables to teach lessons, and some were just good stories to tell sitting around the fire at night looking at the stars. Why are most of them so wide spread? Well good stories get around, only today instead of a traveler telling us new stories sitting around the fire we have TV and Internet or books.

there must be a grain of truth on which the legends and myths are based as otherwise they would not have existed in the first place.

I do believe there's truth in there. Look at how nearly every culture has similar stories--many Western cultures include stories of punishment for knowledge and redemption of mankind by the death of a god, to pull a couple easy correlations.
