Unless you want to wait until the last minute and have to be in a hurry and pay top prices instead of being able to shop for deals...don't worry about it. Personally, I'd start now. You can take your time, not have to take the first thing you see, shop around for good prices....when the baby comes, the last thing you're going to want to do is go shopping.

My question is 'why would you wait?'. It's always easier on the budget to buy a little at a time. Spend what you can afford a month buying what the child will need during most of the pregnancy or spend $1000 all at once.
I couldn't afford that kind of out of pocket thing so as soon as I found out I was pregnant, I started buying what I needed. At four months, I already had the crib and bed clothes for it. At five months I got the car seat. Then I started buying clothes for the kid and diapers.
The cost won't hurt as badly if it's spread out over time as opposed to buying everything at once.

Buy now. I started the second I knew I was pregnant. I also was fortunate enough to have a huge baby shower and wonderful friends and family who helped us get everything we need. My mom also had a friend who was selling her crib and some other stuff and I got a lot of stuff from her. I also found items in the PennySaver. By the time I was 8 months, I had just about everything. Start buying diapers too so when the baby comes you already have a supply. Good luck!

Congratulations, It is good to start buying things for the baby as eraly as 20 weeks as baby things are expencive and it's the easier way so your not flooded with all the expence at one. Its good to be ready for the baby as babys can be born early, its normal to have a baby at 37 weeks as baby is classed as full term still. Its a good thing to go shopping together as its a wonderful time to bond before the baby comes. And in the last month of your wife's pregnancy she will go through the nesting stage, she will clean and rearrange everything alot so its perfact for when the baby is born. Good luck and enjoy the last 2 months, make sure your at the birth its an amazing experance you'll remember for the rest of your life. Congratulations once again and I hope its smooth sailing for you both.

If there isn't any problem with the pregnancy, go buy what you need. That way, you have the crib set up, and have the basics ready when the baby arrives. A question before you go shopping, has she had a baby shower yet? If not, have a family member plan one for her before you start your shopping spree. You'll be surprised on what kind of baby stuff you get. After that, then you just finish up on what you still need for your little bundle of joy.

It's not advisable but, if you start now then the room will be ready for him/her when your wife and new baby come home from the hospital..my sister started buying stuff when she found out she was pregnant.. and that was a year a go. So get out there and buy buy buy your little heart out.

Yes. We started buying things for our babies as early as 3 months. At 7 months unless there is a problem. You should definitely start buying stuff for your baby.
Congrats.

When my wife was going to have her first child, we started buying the moment we found out and saving money from good deals at yard sales and so forth. Don't wait till the last minute when things get tough, but usually the tough get going.

If you want to. No body ever said it was mandatory to buy things right now. However, just make sure you have something for baby to come home in, and get the hospital pix taken, if you are doing that.
