I dont think the two religions have disputes with each other. If you're ultimately referring to the attacks/war, that's more of extremist views of the U.S. Everyone knows it, the U.S. government sticks its nose into places it does not belong; people get upset and lash out. But yet, they're in the wrong. I don't agree with what they've done. But our government isnt innocent on that matter either.
As for the person who quoted verses out of the Quran, Allah is to Islam as God is to Christianity....One Creator. Sheesh!

i think the question is can we afford for them not to,
i hate it, I'm not a religious person, i believe in god but religion is the bane of humanity, it started out as quite a good idea and gave us hope of the salvation of our souls but us humans are incredible when it comes to us utilizing an idea badly and completely wrecking beautiful things.
why for example are we so divided when it comes to stem cell research? two words super soldier. we have wised up just enough to know that we will abuse this potentially ground breaking scientific wonder and create war from it. the same thing happened with nuclear weaponry, we discovered how to create all that power and then set it to work destroying peoples homes and lives.
like i said I'm not a religious person but i do believe that religion and war go hand in hand together. and even though i don't follow the masses in showing my faith to my god i will end up getting dragged kicking and screaming into a war for the sake of some power mad psychopath who believes its gods will. you cannot call one side of a war evil because each side believes its in the right, but you can call both sides evil!
lets stop the war before it happens

the differences you speak of between Christianity and Islam will in all liklihood, only be answered after the "Last Great Day", which both faith's Holy Books mention (Surah 22, The Surah of "Al Hajj" [Pilgrimage] - in the Holy Qur'aan {Abdullah Yusuf 'Ali}; and Leviticus 23:36,39

Incidentally, this "Last Great Day" is the day in Which our Lord and Creator will return to us and remove those of us who have remained faithful to Him. It is, as I understand it when The armies of St. Michael will fight the armies of the dragon on the plain of Megiddo.

Why not?
Until they find the missing x-files.
Until the dirty old men in office find a piece of question with those "Three little words" on "Who are you" left behind by our creator for each and every living human kind to come up with an answer vital for their own survival on planet earth.
Until they learn how to trace which is the missing x-files of our creator and which was ghost stories from the graveyards on planet earth.
Look what happen to all their own children in making a monkey out of themselves in "Planet of apes" on planet earth.

Christians and Muslims are believers in morality with some similarities in practices. Unity is possible if both religions will discard violence as a means of showing grievances.

They haven't for the last 1000 years, why should they now?
The second more important question is why would you want that?
Intolerance is what drives us to make things better. If you tolerated everything, their would be no desire to improve your society. Hence the more intolerant of things you are the better your society will be.
