I am using an inhaler and got thrush also. And I was told only to rinse my mouth. But that isn't enough! Now whenever I use that inhaler, I brush my teeth and TONGUE right afterwards, and haven't had a problem since.
But your husband has to go to the doctor and get the medication to clear this up. The only kind that worked for me was the "swish and spit" kind that I used three times a day.
And yes, this can be contagious! Don't kiss him till it's cleared up!

well, it could be a STI but it doesnt sound too likely. Probably thrush. You see, what people dont know is that most medication irrates thrush even more. If my mum takes anit-biotics, she gets thrush. Lukcily for me I dont. What i would say hun, it find one of the creams to treat thrush, it should take away the itching and the soreness, and eventually the thrush itself. I think there is one called canston duo or something, with a pill AND a cream, go for that. I know this sounds odd, but do you shave down there? if so, that will irrate it alot more, and the shaving could also be causing it. While you are in pain, dont shave or anything until it has calmed down. Best of luck and hope you feel better x x x

From Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in Palo Alto, adjacent to Stanford University Hospital,
Thrush is a yeast infection in the mouth and throat of babies. It occurs in 2 to 5 percent of babies and is more common in premature babies. Thrush is usually caused by the organism Candida albicans, a common organism in adults. Babies usually contract the organism from the mother's body during delivery and may develop thrush as early as 2 weeks old. The yeast is common in the environment. It only causes a problem when it grows in warm, moist environments.
Thrush appears as white patches inside the baby's mouth and on the tongue and lips. Some babies have no symptoms of thrush while others have pain and fussiness and may refuse to feed. Babies with oral yeast infections may also develop a diaper rash caused by the same organism.
Treatment for thrush:
Treatment of thrush depends on whether the infection is causing a problem for the baby. A mother breastfeeding a baby with thrush may also develop the infection on her nipples, which may cause pain. Treatment for oral thrush in breastfed babies should include treatment of the mother's nipples. The most effective treatment for thrush is an antifungal medication. A simple, yet often effective, treatment is with a purple medication called gentian violet, which is painted inside the baby's mouth.
;-D So, treat him like a baby and paint his mouth purple! (And yes, it is contagious! No oral sx while hs is infected!)

Thrush is an overgrowth of a yeast normally found in your mouth and throat. It can be a perfectly normal thing in young children and the elderly, it can be a sign of disease, but it is normally caused by a medication upsetting the balance of microorganisms in your mouth.
You can't catch thrush; the microorganism that causes it is almost certainly present in your mouth already.

Thrush is an infection caused by a yeast-like fungus (Candida albicans). As I understand it is contagious so care should be taken with disposal of tissues etc and ensure hands are washed.

Thrush is a yeast infection. It is generally not contagious, no, unless you also have a bad immune system at the time.
We all have yeast living on us/in us all the time, and it is normal. It can grow 'out of control' if the immune system is weak or if a person has recently been on antibiotics.
