Last week when the bins where out a lady in a white van, came to the top of our street (we live in a close, you can't go past our house) she got out wearing a pair of industrial strength gloves and pinched a rubbish bag from my neighbours bin and just drove off. Is this suspsious or are the council surveying the rubbish (Our council are prone to stupid things, they are talking of weighing the bins to see if you are recyling if they are over weight they want to fine you and are going to put micro chips to track who's is who's bin)

I am serious I saw this.....but just before the lady from over the road poped across and put some of her overflowing rubbish in this bin so if they are stealing ID's or looking for something they could have the wrong rubbish.

Tell your neighbour to phone the Council and ask if the lady was sent by them. There ARE plans to fit 'bugs' to wheelie bins to weigh the rubbish we throw away and we will have to pay about 50p per kg weight. This is going to cost the public a fortune, cause havoc, trouble between neighbours and it's going to cost loads to put into place. I'm just wondering how soon the powers that be will charge us for breathing!

Everyone should have a shredder to shred household bills, till receipts and especially bank statements etc. - It has been on the news for quite a few months now about people stealing from bins to get private information. Celebrities have been a big target as well.
Shredders can be bought for uner £20 .- nothing compared to what you could lose from a bank account. Check with the council and also the Police...if that person had been from the police or the council, surely they would have spoken to the own of the house in the first instance. (Shredders can be bought from Argos, Tesco, B&Q, Woolworths...buy one which has a 'fine diagonal cut' - not a broad cut as these can be pieced together.)

You need a "remote control bomb expert". But seriously I would go to see these people and say Why are you always taking my rubbish bin? If you need extra rubbish space can't you ask the Local Council for another bin? How would you feel if I took your bin? Please don't do this any more I would be very grateful.

Tell your neighbour to change thier pin numbers immediatly and check thier financial security situation !!! This is possibly identity theft.
Pick a nice looking house, steal thier old reciepts from the rubbish (statements etc) you get names, DOB's all sorts of disgarded information.... Get this reporetd to the police too, if you can describe the car, person time and so on.... it may not be an isolated incident.

lmao @ Kuji!! Sorry but that's really funny, "your neighbors might be under investigation for something serious like terrorism, drugs or child pornography." Do you read the Daily Mail by any chance?!
I'd be concerned about id theft. Councils don't just go around taking people's rubbish - well, not unless they're bin men anyway!

It was probably aggie from "how clean is your house?" to find out if your rubbish was correctly disposed of.
This talk of having microchips in your bins are pish posh and will never happen to normal people who recycle. No microchip can weigh what is inside the bin, it would just be unfeasible as people will start sabotaging them and taking rubbish in their cars and trailers to their local tip.

Be careful - pple find a lot of things out about families sifting through rubbish. I always shred everything now. Invest in a cheapie shredder, but make sure it is a cross cut and not a straight cut.
