Firstly, be a man!!! If you don't want to try it, then don't! It's as simple as that. Don't be pressured by anybody, grow a spine and tell them no!

Right if you do decide (for yourself!) to try it, then it helps if you are already a smoker! If you're not, and you're given a spliff, you're going to cough your guts up and feel like ****! If you are a smoker, then weed will make you feel pleasently relaxed, you will probably giggle quite a lot, and will generally feel pretty good. Don't just keep smoking it all night, becuase even though you can't overdose, it can make you sick, so when you feel pleasently stoned, stop. The effects will last a few hours, and there's no real come down. You might get a case of the munchies, where you feel really hungry, if you do, just eat something.
If you plan to eat it, as opposed to smoking it, be aware that the effects will be amplified, and it's harder to judge how much you've taken. Amplified effects can include mild halucinations and feelings of paranoia, but these pass quickly, and if you start to feel as if you're freaking out, go to bed! Find some chilled music, and just go to bed listening to the nice calming tunes, and you'll be fine.
In both cases, don't drink lots of alcohol with it. It will just make you feel sick! If your friends think you're a ***** for not smoking weed, they're going to think it even more if you spend the evening throwing up after one pint!
Weed is pretty safe, it can't kill you, it's not physically adictive (although it can be physcologically adictive) it doesn't really make you 'lose it.' and dispite what you might hear, it will not automaticlly lead you on to hard drugs.

BUT! It is illegal. If you are caught, you will get in to trouble. It has recently been reclassified as a class C drug, but this still means it's against the law to have it! If caught, you may well just get a caution, but it will be on your record as a drugs offence (which never looks good!) If you are under 16, they'll tell your parents as well! (Although if you're under 16, you shouldn't be even smoking!)

It sounds to me that you're really not into the idea, so don't do it. You're not missing much. By not doing it, you won't be missing out on a life changing experience!

It's a life choice, but in my opinion a bad one to make. Not because it's 'bad' for you and the other presumptions that are made about weed, but because weed smokers, in general, have a contentment with being bored, and that's a bad state of mind to get yourself into.

I'd wax lyrical about weed being a stepping stone to other drugs, or how it can start you on a road to addiction to cigarettes, but I think that's pointless and unhelpful. I smoked weed at school a few times (rather like you - just to fit in) and I never got into it - the whole sub-culture always seemed incredibly unappealing. If you want to try it, then you should, and definitely with friends who can tell you the truth about it, but never be fooled into the idea that the grass is greener. Like everything, some people enjoy smoking and others don't. So long as you're making an informed decision and have a decent group of mates who aren't themselves trying to sell you weed to make a profit, then you'll be fine.

However, if you just think it's all a bit of a fad and not that appealing, it's best to steer clear. There's a hell of a lot more to do which is more stimulating and challenging - if your friends decide to do otherwise, then perhaps they're not the best people to hang around with. Trust me buddy - if you do things in moderation, and make sure you know what's going on, you'll be fine. It's all part of growing up.

Firstly dont listen to any of the morons on here saying "its only weed it chills you out", because that is only part of the truth and they havent done it long enough to know the real side effects, "WEED" is a class A drug to start with so it is bad, it destroys brain cells at the rate of knots, and it is as bad a drug to take as any and it is indeed habit forming, not to the extent of such drugs as heroin or cocaine or anphetimines (speed) but it is habit forming none the less, smoking weed or resin for that matter can make you psychologically dependant on it, ie "i cant sleep without a smoke etc etc" its also a muscle relaxant hence the "chilled out factor" and smoking is smoking it will still F*ck with resporatory functions as well as putting tar and all into your blood stream, smoking cannibis weed/resin can also destroy your ability to feel emotion and destroy your perception and I know theres gunna be a whole host of you saying "i concentrate better when I've had a smoke" also I cant argue that it doesnt but what I can say is it only makes you "concentrate better" on one thing as you zone all the other things out, it can destroy your short term memory also, and has a tendancy to "freeze" your age it only seems that way cos you cant remember whats been happening since you started smoking!!.
So in answer to your question No its not a good idea to try it, but you are in control of yourself i presume and listening to all of us saying NO is just a different kind of "peir pressure" so be brave and make the decision yourself I cant tell you what to do all I can tell you is what i know.

Good luck

it won't kill you, but you might not enjoy so much, it can be a mit pukey, but if you don't have too much it isn't. It's not addictive, but smoking anything causes lung cancer, mouth cancer and a load of other horrible diseases. Don't try and drive or do anything that requires your attention, don't swim or anything like that either.

Most important is that you should ok do things you feel comfortable doing. If you feel like this is something you DON'T want to do, then don't do it. You'll be respected a lot more if you have principles and are man enough to stand up against the tide of peer pressure.

Stand up for yourself and just say NO, if they were your mates they would understand your principals, they are not your mates if they are putting pressure on you, ask yourself this, will they still be around when they have pressured you into heroine and crack cocaine too, stay away from the drugs and those so called mates.

When I was a kid, all my friends did it. I just said "no thank you" and it was never an issue. They were only too glad not to share and soon got used to my abstinence. When it gets handed around, just pass it on. Don't make an issue out of it.
It's a slippery slope - look at old rock stars. Most of them mumble that way because they did drugs and started on cannabis.

smoking weed for the first time is painful as its harder to inhale the smoke for the first time. but the euphoria is such an awesome feeling. however weed is really unhealthy and causes alot of long term damage. it is addictive and it would be better if you didnt try it. chances are even if your friends are pressuring you to smoke it theyre not going to disown you or anything if you dont do it so decide for yourself.

Don't do something that you may end up regretting later. If you are feeling pressured, then that should tell you your answer right there, that maybe you should not be doing what they're doing.Because if you really had wanted to smoke weed, you would had done it a long time ago.So don't do something you don't want to do.

Weed is like any other mind altering substance. You lose inhibition, you lose rational decision making skills, you lose self control, and you lose precision motor skills. You also cough like hell the first few times, so be ready for that.

If you want to try it, no one can stop you. If you don't want to try it then don't let anyone pressure you to do it. So what if they call you a ***** or whatever. Rock to your beat, not someone else's.
