I think coming from a family of tanners whose sole incoming is the skins they cure makes your position more than unique.
The good thing about the opposition to pelts and furs is the high price and demand has dropped...
The bad thing is; concern for humanity is placed secondary to the animals in most narrow minded individuals.

You ask a tough question really.
For our family.. being that we are very tuned into wildlife because of the work we do with it... its hard to answer but I will try.
I guess for us.. its a yes and no..
Its a Always NO for any wildlife products, even if they were raised on a farm.. so alligator, snake , Mink and so on...
If its a luxury thing like a coat or boots pr purse that is the reason the animal is farmed and the use of the meat in a feed or for human consumption is the by product.. then its no for us
If its a domestic animal raised for human consumption like Beef,..then we have less issue with it... that is tough too because we have seen a packing plant and it was not good how they are killed and so on... But .... Cows are domestic and do not exist in the wild...
For things like Hunted animals such as Deer, Bear etc...
We understand the role hunting plays in population control and Conservation. We live in Wisconsin , and D eer hunting is a religion here.. We do not hunt.. and do not eat Game but most everyone else we know does.. and thats ok with us..
Its just our thing..
We are against trophy hunting.. hunting where the meat and hide are used is ok.
I guess each person has to think about it and educate themselves as to the issues and make that decision for themselves. Nobody can tell you but you. It has to be what You think is ok for you... What each person thinks is ok c an be different and yet not wrong.
We steer way from wearing animal products, furs or even fake fur
I feel that wearing fur/skins helps keep teh market alive for these items and also makes a statement to others that it is ok. Fake fur is often mistaking for real fur.
To each his or her own.. but for me personally I do not wear, buy or support companies who use or manufacture wildlife products or luxury things like furs etc.. or exotics
We even try to avoid products tested on animals,.. but Im sure we have some...
Now dont worry Im not one of those picketing the Fur store folks..
We eat meat.. Know lots of folks who have those other items... its just not for us..
Good Luck on why ever you are asking... The decision is only yours to make... Its what you feel the most comfortable with.

We didn't get to the top of the food chain by asking cows if they felt like being worn today.
It sounds harsh, but we're animals, and animals eat other animals. In nature it's the same way. When a lion kills a zebra, does she wear its fur or use its bones for anything besides something to gnaw on? No, they don't. Does the rest of the pride whine at the one who killed the zebra and say "That zebras life wasn't good enough, it wasn't fair to kill it?" "You scared that zebra or put him through too much pain before he died, you're a bad lion." No, these things don't happen.
Some people just like to whine about things they don't understand because they don't see the big picture. I don't support animal cruelty, but I'm a big fan of steaks and chicken sandwhiches. I wear mostly cotton products, but leather is also a good product. Doesn't make very good seat covers, though, it's too sticky.

Eaten by what? By whoever killed it or by scavengers that ate what was left behind after the fur was peeled off? I don't think people need to be wearing animals fur in today's day and age. There's plenty of other things they can wear to stay warm now, it's not like we're in the middle ages and have to wear their fur to stay alive anymore. It's a status symbol and the skin and fur of animals should not be a status symbol for the wealthy.

ok i'm not a non secular guy or woman, yet a non secular one. that's the place my answer comes from. God positioned animals in this earth for us to apply in lots of techniques. If we don't abuse them and in simple terms use the furs i think of that it quite is high-quality. Many cultures use each little thing of the animal, the fur, meat, the teeth, hooves. each little thing. community human beings did it this way additionally. yet whilst the animal is killed for under one area of it, no count what area...it quite is torture and not top. Human dominance is in simple terms going to be dominance if we don't abuse it. Which regrettably to many human beings are abusing this, quite often for their own benefit. with the point to respond to your questions, if the animal isn't tortured and the beef is eaten, then it quite is not incorrect.

The animals used to make fur are always in terrible living conditions. They are bred and raised for that purpose only. They're basically just stock...like slaughter cows, so their welfare is not really high on the people's priority list.
So, unless you plan on going out and shooting an animal, skinning it, eating it and then make a coat out of the remains, I'd say no.

Not if it is a rare/endangered animal as wearing the skin/fur promotes further killing.
