I've heard a couple say they're naturally beautiful, don't need it... blah blah But if you ask me, a little lipgloss and mascara really makes a difference. I've heard of women say that they have enough self esteem and don't wear it. But if you ask me, if you wear makeup you do have self esteem because it shows you care about what you look like.

Yeah, exactly Ruth. Not for men. Just to look presentable.

I never said anything about caking it on. But if you're going out somewhere then you should wear makeup. All the guys I've dated compliment the way I do my eye makeup because I know how to bring them out. Guys appreciate it when you fix yourself up to go out. I don't care how good you think you look. Everyone could use a little bit.

Alot of you are failing to see my point. If you're going somewhere nice, you should fix yourself up. You can always enhance things. I'm not saying cake on foundation and wear bright lipstick. Alot of you probably just don't know how to apply it. When I wear it, you can't even tell I'm really wearing any. It's called "enhancing"

I think it's just a matter of personal preference. I love make-up, I don't always wear it, but usually I at least have mascara on and my eye-lashes curled. I think it's kind of silly that people are so against makeup...but yet think it's just fine to curl/dye/strighten their hair and such.
Or, I think that some people think of makeup from like their junior high days or what their grandma wears. In todays world....there are a million zillion options for makeup...you can dress it as up or as down as you want. To me, it's a way of expressing myself...almost like an art. I just chose to wear my art instead of paint it on a canvas. But, I do think it's very important for woman and girls to realize that makeup is fun or a way of enhancing their features...not something that needs to be put on everyday before going out of the house.

This is an interesting question.

I wear make-up. Every day. Foundation, eyeshadow, liner, mascara, blush, lipstick - the whole nine yards. I don't look like Tammy Faye. I wear it because I think it's fun. It makes me feel girly and feminine. It also pulls my daily look together, and makes me feel more polished when I walk out the door.

Why are some women so anti-makeup - I couldn't tell you. I guess some see the cosmetics industry as predatory and preying on women's "worst fears." Some have a misconstrued idea of what "feminist" means and think that feeling girly somehow makes them less of an empowered woman.

Personally, I see an awful lot of made-up faces walking around. I find it hard to believe that THAT many women are sporting the au naturel look.

Heard the saying " Less is more" and "natural is beautiful". You don't need anything if you're naturally gifted with a clear clean face, nice beautiful eyes, luscious lips, etc. Why hide or cover some chemicals on anything that is beautiful already. I agree, if you just want to enhance it then make-up is the answer... for that special occasion(if you always wear it, in time it looks ordinary...yes...boring!). But, you cant wear make-up all the time to look good and boost self-esteem.
You see a beautiful a woman is when she looks good and sexy the moment she wakes up....without all those creams, make-up,lipstic on her face.

I am not anti-makeup persay however I personally do not wear it alot because I feel like my skin is heavy and my pores are clogged. I do believe in mascara and lip gloss heavily though! I do not think less of any woman that wears make-up at all, to each is own. Natural beauty has nothing to do with wearing make-up or not....properly applied make-up ENHANCES natural beauty....now plastic surgery is for those without natural beauty. Self-esteem issues comes in to play if you sleep with your frosted make-up face on and not even your husband has seen you without it. You can care about what you look like by taking care of your skin and not wearing make-up too.

nothing better than sustaining a healthy skin. when i was back home i was hopeless with make ups as well nothing to do with self esteem etc but just plain laziness and to me such waste of my time. i can never manage a full proper make up apart of lipstick/ gloss on the way to work. i've learn to accept myself as it is. if i can't who then can? although i'm in such a way but i still spend on make ups not at any cheaper rate cause i still put on some when i'm not that lazy and of course for certain functions.

by the way i've never learn to accept the feeling of having foundation on my face cause it looks more terrible than having it. what could be worst than having to feel comfortable all day long.

Makeup industry market "hope" (not makeup).
[like casinos market the "dream" - not gambling]

Individual decision.
Those that wear to make themselves feel beautiful should wear it.
Those that don't want to wear it for whatever reason(s) shouldn't.

It is a marketable commodity - a billion dollar industry.

There are many reasons why someone may want to wear makeup or chooses not to. No one is better or worst than the other.

I think all women are beautiful - with or without makeup.

Wanna man's perspective? I like a woman who either wears no makeup or light makeup. Nothing wrong with a woman who wears a little to touch up certain areas, but if you have so much on your face that Tammy Fae Baker thinks you need to check yourself, then it is not cool.

A woman with too much makeup on her face is hiding something.

i only wear eye shadow and mascara because my eyes are my best feature. everyone i know that wears base and all that has complextion problems. i just dont see the need to cover up what God gave ya. Plus its a pain to put all that on. it has nothing to do with self esteem. well maybe. i dont have a problem with how i look. and honestly, most guys dont like makeup.

I prefer my women without makeup. I especially hate lipstick and eye makeup is grotesque.
Makeup makes a woman look older.

I think its sad and ignorant for a person to say that another person should wear makeup when they go out. Just because you need it, doesnt mean they do.
