For the past 6 months I seem to have this itch on the lower part of my privates which at night I go to sleep scratching. It seems to be ok during the day but takes off at night. I have changed the washing powder but it still continues. I am not involved with sexual activity outside marriage so I know it can't come from that. I really don't want to go to the doctor as I class this part of me private.

My wife and I are not involved with sex outside of ourselves. She has had no problems in this area. I thought I would ask you guys first before I would try anyone else. Thanks

You may need to change the soap you use when you shower, it could be irritating you. Also try some baby powder before you get to bed, or get some calimine lotion or hydracortizone I think I spelled it right.

Many people value privacy and I respect that. There are many health link phone lines that you can phone and speak to a health practitioner totally anonymous. Have you ever considered changing your soap as well as your shampoo. Call someone and ask. A lot of times it could be the material your undies are made of. I'm allergic to a lot of fabrics and ran into the same problem. Hope you find some answers, but until then try a medicated powder. Make sure that it's privy safe before you apply. Good luck my friend.

hmm... before we come to any conclusions... please try to see a doctor first so we can be sure... is your partner experiencing any of your symptoms?? had you changed your underwears and bought a whole new set that has brought you this irritation? are you immunosuppressed?? are you taking any steroid medications like glucocorticoids, corticostreroids and the like??
steroids can make you immuno suppressed and if you're immune system is suppressed we may be facing some sort of Fungal infection... not all STDs come from having sexual partners... some come from using somebody else's stuff like towels, toilet bowls and bath tubs....

You can't treat this until you find out what it is. Go to a doctor.
You may consider that part of you private, but it is part of a doctor's job. Just go, and find out.

you had better go to the docs! If you have a case of the 'Crabs' then maybe you should find out who your wife is seeing behind you back!
