I have a vague idea that it was about vampires, although i am not completely sure about this. Tanaka was definitely the bad guy. This is really Bugging me!!

Sounds like You Only Live Twice, but I don't remember James Bond being any kind of vampire.

Only Tanaka I can find apart from the Bond one is a forensic pathologist named Josef or Joey Tanaka in "Mantis", "Leopard", and "Steroid Blues" by Richard La Plante. A good guy not a villain and not a vampire in sight so not the one you are looking for.

I also read a book when I was younger which had a character named Tanaka, it was set in Indonesia. No vampires though. Are you sure about the vampires?
