Those polls for best album/single change every 4-5 years, so it will be something else soon. I remember having seen that poll a while back, sometime last year, so it wasn't that new.

But I would say that OK computer did deserve a top 10 spot, as its a brilliant album, all the layering, subtle effects, meaningful lyrics(makes a change from todays money/sex/what sells records rubbish), and individually they are all good at what they do, leads to them receiving the praise that they do!

Also makes a change from The Beatles or Queen getting it.

Well, it makes a change from bloody 'Sgt. Pepper' or 'Revolver'. Don't get me wrong, I love the Beatles, but these works are not flawless. THE greatest album has by definition to be one with not a single bad track on it, and that is a milestone in music in some way. It need not necessarily be your favourite (although I love Pink Floyd's 'The Wall', I would never consider it to fulfill the above criteria).
For me, it would have to be either Nirvana's 'Nevermind', Siouxsie and the Banshees' 'The Scream', or Propoganda's 'A Secret Wish'. All classics that can be played again and again and reveal repeated pleasures every time.

I dont know but i was disapointed with the winner.how can you possibly know which is the best, for a start i think its generally a younger element that puts in most of the votes,ie 45 and under ,so earlier groups like the beatles get fewer votes each year ,if this poll had been taken even 5 years ago ,the beatles .abba, queen, the stones and bee gees, would have been in the top five, now with more of the younger votes it becomes more recent artists(,ie the last 30 years,) In 10 years time it will be Robbie williams,McFly,Kean,James blunt ,etc.So how will you ever know the best.It comes down to who think is the best and thats what matters.

I'm so glad I went to sleep after the white album. I would have been well disappointed. I guessed it would have been Sgt Peppers lonely blah blah (it usually was). Did anyone see where Primal Scream - Screamadelica got too? That album usually gets to about number 8 - Just took a look bloody 81! what a strange list.

No idea, glad was Radiohead, and although I'm surprised they won, I'm even more surprised that it was with OK Computer than with 'The Bends' - which is probably what I would have voted for.

Good question - I was quite surprised by that as well. These little surveys change every year anyway.

It is good but i think 'push' by bros from 1987 would have been more deserving
