I think they do understand as they are not really stupid people. However they ignore the British people in order to favour their own ends and their own agenda. Everything they do is, in general, to catch votes so that they can be re-elected and continue to earn big salaries and qualify for the exceptional pension MP's get.
They,Gordon Brown, have now taxed us so much that we are individually becoming poorer. Pensions have been tax raided, the council tax is becoming a burden to all , especially those on fixed incomes. My council tax alone accounts for 12% of the payment that I receive.
My pay is taxed and my savings that were built up from my taxed income over the years is taxed, my insurances for house etc are taxed, petrol is taxed to a stupid level and I could go on.
No they do not care about the ordinary people at all.

The second a politician gets elected the real world begins to slowly slip away . The whips take over and they get into political fractions. (school playground stuff who`s side are you on) Its hard to have empathy with real people if you have a career to look out for. They begin to dictate rather than listen and usually end up with an opinion or idea that will appease, or at least be accepted by, the majority without fuss.

Yes. If you want to see a government that does not, try living in the {hilippines for a few months. Then you may realise what BAD government is.

NO. The problem now-a-days, seems to be that members of the Goverment are only interested in themselves. They have forgotten that they are supposed to be PUBLIC SERVANTS representing the People.
I feel that they have no feelings for those that elected them.
