Most the people who answer questions on here are either overtly racist and have no concept of other religions or cultures, or are just completely unaware of anything past their nose. I thought this is what made us interesting! Obviously not. It makes me ashamed to call myself British! There are other people in this country and those who want to improve their lot in life, is that so bad?

I am not specifying just British! I think it is an all over problem.

And just for clarification one person has said that they have freedowm of speach in this country. If you look we don't actually have freedom of speach in any statute or document in England, common mistake though.

There is no freedom of speech specified. The closest it comes is in the Human Rights Act and the European Directive on Human Rights. People in the UK did not have positive rights until these documents were enacted in 1998 (European Directive was encompased into English law by the Human Rights Act).
English law is not based on the Napoleonic Code the first references to english law were found in the Domesday Book these were infering property rights. The French revolution and Napoleon were well after this date.
France is from the Romano Germanic school of law England is from the Anglo American. They are totally different systems. The Napoleonic Code could be argued is drawn from Justinians Code which was an old roman statute book.
Most of the problems we have in England and Wales (I say specifically England because I do not know the Scottish or Northern Irish system well enough to comment) are because we do not have a written consitution and no positive statement of rights.

Stay with it. If you see questions that you think are racist or badly spelt or have bad English answer the question but make your point as well. If things are really bad report it on the abuse key. If we all did this the rubbish using Questions as a modern form of writing on toilet walls, would start to go away.
There are a lot of questions on here that I personally am only interested in the answers others give, so I am using them as an educational tool.
You can get a great deal out of this site if you let it work for you.
As you can see I am probably really the same as you but I use it to my advantage.
Please stay as you are probably the type of person that is needed.
Good luck

Cassie! what this site needs is people such as you who act in a responsible and mature way otherwise the idiots win and we cannot let that happen.
Although there is always room on here for funny and lighthearted banter there is a serious side to it and a lot of people have had excellent questions and answers with a lot of people being helped.
Unfortunately there will be those with nothing better to do than hide behind their screens insulting and offending other users,I am quite often insulted because I remove those that I can find (my Job) but that goes with the territory and I can handle that,on occasions some slip the net and it is down to people like you to report them and we can then remove them.
Because of the number of people on-site it is impossible to keep track of them all.
I can see that you have had some offensive replies to your "question" and they will be removed from Yahoo, but don't let them bully you.
Here is a BIG HUG to help cheer you up.

Interesting point you make about freedom of speech, but it is based on a misconception about British law.

Much of Europe has a legal system based on Napoleonic law in which the idea is that unless something is specifically allowed in law then it is assumed to be prohibited (to simplify the situation quite a lot).

British law is based on the notion that unless something is specifically prohibited then it is allowed.

So unless there are statutes limiting free speech, such as libel, defamation, incitement, official secrets, and data protection, the default position in law is that you have freedom of expression.

I'm sure I can rely on somebody more knowledgable to correct me if I've got this wrong, but this is my understanding of the situation.

Wow - this is a really good question!!!

I hope you will stay & provoke more debate, as we need these sorts of self-referential questions ... in order to discuss who we are and what the whole point is ...

The huge numbers of answers show that there is a real mix of people here - some who think the same way as you, some who don't, some who care and some who joke and all shades in between.

Some people take life too seriously and some people joke too much, but that's life, too.

It is all in the struggle. If everyone agrees with us, how do we learn to defend our opinions?

Don't give up. Be brave, be bold.

Not everyone on here is racist, that's being very general. There are a number of people that try and force their ridiculous opinions on people, but you don't have to listen to those ignorant people. As an adult you can make your own mind up about things, and if you don't agree with people then ignore their remark, or if they are racist then report their question. Don't be ashamed to be British, their are ignorant idiots in all races, societies and cultures, that's because we are all human and not perfect.

I didn`t even get the question. Sometime you have to choose multiple choice. I have to. There is right and wrong. Guess what!!! Some of the answers are partially right. Some of the questions there is 7 or 20 answers that are in the ball park and they all helped. We gave you what we could and I did not say I`m right. Take Care.

I'm British to..the problem here is that every thing we say is taken out of context ,i have some good Muslim friends who disagree with the human bombs..but when we speak out about the few ,and yes it is just a few of these people that live off this country but stand in the streets and preach hate for the our nation .well if me saying these few should be rounded up and shipped back to the country's they want to die for is classed as racism then that's what it is..but as my grandfather died fighting for this country and the right of free speech ,i like the hate filled clerics will say what i feel.
even my Muslim friends say these people should not be on our streets..so are they being racist..i dont think so..they are just using the right of free speech...so until they rename this country the united kingdom of Russia i will say what i like...and if you dont like the truth you can leave the site and dont sign on here again..its because we live in a free country you have that right...use it now before they take it from you

I need to agree with you but if you click on most of the rotten answerer's then what you find is that it is a blank profile, maybe like me ask yahoo to do something about this. i have also asked them repeatedly to address the racism on here as when you ask for a racist question to be removed it is still there days later.

Please don't quit Though as that would mean the idiots are pushing those using answers right out the door.

Cassie, some people are taking it seriously, some others see it only as a game and want only to have fun and gain points! I'm in the first group, as you are. Just ignore the silly answers and take what's good from the serious ones!
