Probably "why". "Who" and "what" questions seem like they'd have a simple, concrete answer. But "why" ... oh my, there are probably an infinite number of answers to questions that begin with "why"!

What is the biggest question in Philosophy.
Who is the biggest in Religion.
Why is in Science.

Philosophy means the search for wisdom. It means the search for greater understanding. A search for something that is not obvious and cannot be specified. A search into the darkness seeking WHAT.
Isn't "What is the meaning of life" the most basic and common philosophical question?

In every religion the main questions are. Who rules the world? and Who should I be? Religion influences behavior and everything that influences our behavior (or belief system) is a religion. Example: (Money) run the world and I should be a (millionaire) You can put anything you believe at in the gaps.

Science is searching for the cause the WHY (how and when included) in everything that we experience. In order to be there science there have to be observable results and only when there are results there is science.
Examples:
History (which is a science by the way): Why did the Second World War happened?
Physics: Why is the apple falling of the tree?
Psychology: Why am I answering this question anyway? (or is it Psychiatry)

Why is the most important question in philosophy.
The reason behind the who, what and when is the answer to "why".
Science answers how.
History answers who and when.
Geography answers where.
Only philosophy answers why.

Who am I ?(Am I this physical visble body or the invisible mind or even beyond that) Is indeed the biggest question in philosophy.
If you can disect & get to the root of it,all other questions pale into insignificance.

I don't think it is any of those. There is no single "big" question in philosophy. One must think about a variety of topics and ideas, and some of those don't necessarily begin with the W words.

Not just one 'why'
It is repeated 'why's that take us to the root cause - intermediate causes are the subject of scientific study - it is root cause which is the subject of enquiry in philosophy.
