I don't know but maybe our thoughts are less important than a good argument so therefore to get in a good arguement costs 2 cents.???

Putting in your 2 cents, is done without anyone requesting you to do so. A penny for your thoughts, is asked when someone is interested in your answer.It shows that we think our answers etc, are important enough to be worth 2 cents, others think it is worth 1 cent.
