in some way it is acceptable... lets think about WHY, do people ask why.....

lets say myself... the only question that keep popping in my head after every "effecting me" event, is WHY...not the WHY in the sense of "OMG, WHY DID IT HAPPEN...OMG...."....but in the sense of, what was the reasons that lead to that effecting event......so after breaking all the reasons, there will always be a WHY did this thing happen.... in fact, if humans kept thinking before acting, talking, or feeling something, there will be absolutely no Whey's to be asked...((it's my theory, and i believe strongly in it)),.......that was asking why to your self...

But, when it's a why, for someone else, or public... i feel it's of no use, so i never ask it my self... WHY, would i ask why, to another person who have a brain, and completely different set of emotions and reactions...WHY am i judging him\her expecting them to do the thing that i might have done or felt, or perhaps WHY did they do or feel something at a certain point resulting in an certain act......it's only useful, to know the point of view, to FEEL the feeling and GET the idea they were having at that point, so you can either use it to NOT, or TO do the same thing in case you had a similar case.....and that's where we fell in something called "experience".....so I'll stop talking here coz am gonna go crazy, and out of the question....:)

As long as the "WHY" is retained within, open and receptive to answers, it is perfectly acceptable to refrain from asking. But the scare has to be allowed to evaporate, at least over a period of time, for the answer to soak in !

I don't think it is acceptable to be too scared to ask why. Why do you have to be too scared anyway while all you want to know is more clarification? You have rights to ask why.

Why
Why is about the reason, it relates to all other questions.
All things that can be asked can always be asked why they need to be asked. It is the question that questions all questions.
To be scared of asking why would depend on why you ask or what will be the result of you asking. It all comes down to the importance of what you want to know.
so a question would be why do you ask?

Yes it is sometimes. For example if you are a soldier. A soldier should be scared to ask why -- so that he will follow orders as fast as possible.

yes it is. if you are okay living in a hole in the ground all your life. but if you are tired of it come out in the sunshine and live. this is your only trip this way, so you might as well get a good seat and enjoy the ride.
