I have all of the classic symptoms of menopause, quite severely. Except I still have periods. BUT they last anywhere from 2 to 8 days and can be from 28 to 58 days apart, usually extremely light. This has been going on for about 2 1/2 years and I am not pregnant as I have a tubal and my husband a vasectomy! My doctor just kind of looks at me as if I am making it all up!

My mother and all other female relatives were anywhere from their early tolate 50's when they experienced menopause with a minimal amount of symptoms. None of them experienced anything like perimenopause whatsoever.............

Women can go through menopause as early as 30. If your symptoms are as severe as you say they are. I would see a different doctor. Who can check your hormone levels. And give you proper advise, and hormone replacement therapy if needed. My sister in law started menopause at 38 and had a heck of a time getting a doctor to properly diagnose her because of her age. I would definitely see another doctor. Check out these sites for more information.

I prefer Medscape as I find it gives more information. And is easier to navigate.
Good Luck.

It's called peri-menopause. It's totally normal. Change Doctor's, or ask for a second opinion. Talk to your Mom, and Aunts about when they started dealing with menopause symptoms. If you have a Gyno. talk to her about this. If you don't have a Gyno, get one. They know all about peri-menopause and how to deal with it. Don't stress over it.

It's not uncommon to be the only one who has peri-menopause. But definately see a gyno, and look into changing dr.'s. When you change dr's, make sute you state loss of confidence as your reason for changing. No matter how small your problems, the dr should always take you seriously.

Check www.webmd.com for details on peri-menopause.
