unbelief of the fact that the batteries are actually dead and hope that there might be somehting wrong with the remote because one is too lazy to get up and get fresh batteries. Hence forth the pass remote is invented. Waiting for someone to pass and ask them to change the channel. When all can be solved if you just get yur lazy butt up in the first place and get the darn batteries!

Because it is just like when you come to the end of the tube of toothpaste and roll it up until it cant be rolled up anymore- you figure that you might just be able to get that last little bit out of it...lol

That or you take the batteries out and shake them and return them to the remote....

I wish I knew. Why do we pick up and rearrange a piece of fluff the vacuum missed and give it one more chance to suck it up. Why do we try a light switch more than once when its very apparent the bulb is burnt, and the list goes on.

Probably for the same reason we push an elevator or crosswalk button multiple times! We think doing something harder or faster will make it work better!
