It is the type of clothes and shoes you put on.

There are some additives you can add when you wash you clothes to reduce the static.

I take it you are talking about static electricity? if you are then try wearing rubber soled shoes/boots. I cant understand why you would get zapped by the car, but indoors yes. I get zapped at work on a polywrap machine. The engineers came to solve this but I still get it and I was wearing rubber soled boots. It was a big zap with a big flash and my hand was black. I now refuse tio touch the part on the machine in question. I hope there is an electrical engineer out there who might be able to answer your question better.

You could alter the types of material you wear in your clothes. Avoid artificial fibers and silk.

You could try shoes with different materials on bottom.

You might try keeping your skin and hair better moisturized. Conditioners and lotions are what I mean. "It rubs the lotion on it's skin or it gets static zapped again". Sorry couldn't resist a Silence of the Lambs joke.

If it's happening at home you could get a humidifier, dry air makes static buildup worse. Dunno how you'd manage that at work though.

Some people are just more static prone. You could spray stuff with anti-static spray to minimize it, but it may just be your destiny to be a low wattage non metallic Doctor Doom.

You now shuffle your feet. You wear different shoes or clothes. You notice it and others ignore it. You developed an electric personality, so brag about it. You keep your skin cleaner and dryer. Try some experiments and see what makes the difference. Make a science fair project out of it.

Me, too. We have lots of electricity in our bodies. There is nothing you can do about it but get in the habit of laying a large part of your body like a forearm or shoulder on the metal first. A finger is small and will give you a bigger jolt. If you put your entire hand or arm on there, it will distribute out the shock and it won't hurt as bad. Good luck! I feel your pain. :)

static electricity... certain types of clothes increase the ability to create this and also carpets or seats in cars.

while gettin out of a car hold some metal on the car as your getting out and you shouldnt be shocked when you get out.

can't think of anything else, hope i was some help.

it could be static electricity or it could mean you have a lower resistance to electricity permanently or you could just have had wet hands when you got the shock temporarily lowering the resistance
