people who just want points...and you just wasted some by asking a question

Would agree that these people are only after the points most of the time. However, being relatively new to "Answers" the replies that some people leave are still amazing me!! It is a shame that they make daft or non-sensical comments, sometimes offensive as well. I suppose it would be almost impossible to police this, as it would be difficult to draw the line. But perhaps "I don't know" should be made an invalid response unless it is qualified by another useful comment. There again, these cheats would get round it by using another stupid unhelpful phrase I suppose! At least there are some really good contributors out there who are keen to share their knowledge, which is fantastic, and I would like to thank them all. To get a genuine reply is a privilege.

Ah, you appear to have had a run in with the common or garden "points gamer". A "points gamer" is a creature who has not yet realised that in Y! Answers points don't mean prizes and so they aim to get as many 2 point answers as possible in the shortest time. This is usually achieved by typing "don't know" or for the really lazy, "idk". The "points gamer" is a stupid creature who does not realise that even though points mean very little they could gain more points by answering a question properly and thus gaining 12 whole points for posting a best answer (2 for answering plus 10 for best) as opposed to just a measly sixth of that for their lazy pointless answers . These creatures are best ignored or reported for points gaming.

They are not sad !! They just want to earn 2 points !! And does it really bother you that much that you have to ask this question and then you loose another 5 points ! And sometimes they want to point out to the asker that they don't know either and it is a good question they asked ! Or to show that they think the same way !!

the kind that are trying to bump up their points by any means necessary so they can go up a level, i guess! you get points for answering questions and the more points you have, the more privileges you have.
