For example this thread:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aoam_EUTUuI0k84hlhcHudDsy6IX?qid=20061003040421AAaJqoO
I just voted for an answer (1414), and realised the answer leading the votes is 1500 which is clearly the wrong answer. This led me to doubt yahoo answers reliability.
Why do people vote wrongly, and askers not bother choosing the correct answer?

For those answering, no need to vote - just wanted to point out this phenomena and if anybody shared my sentiments.

Oh & to clarify I don't usually do homework help questions, 'cos I'm no genius, but I knew that answer I voted on for sure 'cos I've just done it in class.

This board is available to anybody who has a yahoo account, and not everybody who can log in to yahoo has a lot of brains. LOL! It's great for conversation, but I wouldn't bank on accuracy unless you can prove it. I give every answer a chance, but I've discovered more wrong than right.
Good luck!

yeah. a lot of the answers people give are guesses because they dont really know the answer. i thought it was that because the amount had doubled from 500 to 1000, and that because the difference between the two are 500, that to find out what the answer would be 9 hours later, you would need to divide 500 by 6 for the amount of hours then times that by 3 for the amount of hours left over, which would equal 250, so then the answer would be 1000 + 250 which equals 1250. however, i saw how the 1414 answer was set out and it makes sense to me that that would be the answer. i guess people assume answers would be 1500 because that's the way it seems to them. and i guess it's too late to answer a question that is in voting, so therefore they can only choose the best answer from those answers, and nothing could be done about it. i dont like it myself, but i know that the only thing i can do is vote for an answer that is accurate and that makes sense. others may not think that way though, which makes it bad voting considering the askers of the question usually go for the answer with the most votes.

that's in all probability because of the fact the asker forgets or does not hassle to p.c.. the terrific answer. i think of a few human beings pass decrease back and inspect questions that they have got responded and in the event that they're "In vote casting" they vote for his or her answer. If no one else votes for a diverse answer then they're going to win terrific answer by ability of default. This in all probability explains why each and every now and then dumb, undesirable or incorrect replies are picked as "terrific answer". i do no longer rather care if my answer is chosen as terrific. yet as quickly as I make the hassle to deal with a intense, good answer to somebody's question that's intense high quality to get a minimum of a 'thank you' whilst the decide for the terrific answer. as quickly as I p.c.. a good answer to a question I ask i attempt to thank the different customers who gave sturdy solutions (and chastise ones that provide stupid or insensitive solutions)

The majority may not necessarily be doing the 'right' thing. The Bible calls us 'sheep' without a 'shepherd'. If you are aware, 'sheep' always move together, in a group, but, without a shepherd, they really don't make a lot of progress in direction. Goats eat garbage, I think the Bible may be placing us in a better place than reality is!
But, the whole idea of saying that is not to put 'sheep' down. I am as regular a 'sheep' as any, except I've been around far longer than a lot here, but that doesnt qualify me to be any smarter than my neighbor either. I am humble to learn that I may all the answers on my fingertips, but without wisdom, (right answers at the right time, at the right place), a process we all learn thru making many mistakes (including 'right' mistakes - right answers at the wrong places , at the wrong time).
The other thing about being 'sheep' is so we make God relevant for ourselves all the time, no need to 'bash up' those who 'talk' God, but don't 'walk' it.
I hope this helps....

Because the voters don't know the right answer any better than the answerers do!
It's scary to see how many truly stupid people there are out there, isn't it? YA is a great place to see that in action!
So, since this question is in voting right now, you wouldn't be posting a link to it here in hopes that we'll go over there and vote for your answer, would you? ;-)

In this particular case I think you also voted for a wrong answer. The answer should be 1000 and it's pretty obvious why, isn't it?

head s is right - alot of people just vote to get the "1" point and don't care if they have voted for the right answer or not.
