When you play a match for your national side, you are presented with a cap in honour of this. It's a pretty standard flat cap, in your teams colours.

It's an archaic tradition, but one that is preserved, and players are extremely proud of their caps. Sometimes they get sold on if the player needs money (although not so much in this day and age!).
