the way athletes train is by attaching a harness to their waist and connect a high tension stretch cord to it. By jumping using this system it allows those muscles involved to develope specifically. Your results won't happen overnight but perseverance will do wonders in the long run.

Do not put weights on your body. It will severely strain it. A sudden weight addition stresses joints and can actually injure them!

i agree with askew. the harnesses will not only help you jump higher, but it will make you a much more explosive player off the dribble.
