I watched the season premiere where Det. Benson went undercover to join the controversial protest group. I didnt get to watch last season's finale. What happened between Stabler and Benson? and how come the priest at the beginning told Stabler to go home and say sorry to his wife? Did he have an affair with Benson or something?
oh, and on Law and Order CI, i noticed that the show swithces off pairs. Do they focus on just 2 partners, and then switch off to another pair?

I think Benson and Stabler had been fighting a lot at the end of last season and she told the Capt that she didn't want to be partners w/Elliot anymore.
He and his wife have been separated for a while now.
I'm assuming that they are doing this because Mariska Hargitay was pregnant so they just wrote her character going undercover for her real-life maternity leave.
Although I did like the episode they showed on Tuesday night (w/ Jerry Lewis --did you see that one?!) I just don't like that Olivia is not there! I am such fan of the show I don't want anything about it to change!
I hope they pair up again before the season is over!
Also, I hope there isn't any real-life animosity between the actors.
It seemed that their relationship was really, really strained last season. :(
