He hasn't been open with me about his problems, all i know is the closer i try to be, the further he pushes me. He can open up to his friends, but he can't open up to me. We lack a lot of communication and i just don't know how to work that out!

well he may not be ready to tell you aything because he doesnt know how you will react to it you know what i mean. but he needs to start opening up or the relationship could disperse

somethings take time, when he is ready to open up he will. just remember that his friends know what he is going thourgh you can ask them to help you with tell him how you feel but don't push him

don't work it out, worry about yourself and do your own thing, if he don't want you to know and you are the only one who will be really there for him, let him depend on his friends. the more you worry about him the more stress you will be putting on yourself. act like you don't care and he'll be worrying.

don't pressure him.you should tell him what ever he is ready to talk you will be there for him,
