Being liberal isn't, but many self-claiming liberals are and act unpatriotic.

Take for example, the war in in Iraq. Even if you don't support the war, you shouldn't trash talk the United States, the soldiers, or the president because their doing what they think will be best for everyone. It's impossible to please everyone.

While liberalism is not per se unpatriotic, it is a tool used by the enemies of our country and culture. The promotion of liberalism enables enables the culture of a country to be subjugated on the grounds of tolerance, inclusiveness and multiculturalism. By creating a society that has no real identity and comprising of many groups competing for status and recognition, the economy and government become easier to control and manipulate by those whose cultural and racial identities are protected by legislation.
The definition referenced by the first answer is incorrect. The etymology of democracy is Greek, meaning 'Rule by the People'. Liberalism has been slipped in later in an attempt to justify the exclusion from government of such people as Jorg Haider (Austrian Freedom Party).

In my opinion, no. I consider our president very conservative and there are plenty of citizens who think he is unpatriotic. This country is all about freedom and being liberal is also.

No not in the slightest. I'm liberal, I except other peoples views, cultures and sexualities etc. I am also a very proud englishman and believe that I'm from a brillant country, 1 reason that it is so is that it does embrace other cultures and not scared by them.

Not at all - democracy demands citizens who question the status quo - that is the way people can have a positive impact upon society.
Remember Samual Johnson's quote:
" PATRIOTISM IS THE LAST REFUGE OF A SCOUNDRAL."

No. In the words of Chesterton:
'My country, right or wrong,' is a thing that no patriot would think of saying. It is like saying, 'My mother, drunk or sober.'
