This phenomenon is called "spontaneous generation." Hundreds of years ago, this was the prevailing scientific theory about how life was formed. This theory is obviously flawed. There were a number of formulas for creating different types of organisms. Many scientists even did serious experiments in an attempt to prove or disprove the "Theory of Spontaneous Generation" One scientist put different things,(fresh cut meat, for example) into sealed environments, (containers with screens, glass jars) to see if maggots formed.

Arguments over this theory were plentiful until Pasteur proved that the theory was wrong. This is where Pasturization comes from.

Flies laid eggs on the trash that could provide food for the maggots, and the maggots hatched. They're not dangerous, they're more or less like catepillars. They will grow into flies, eventually.

Hey Professorpippypoopypants, keep your half-baked knowledge to yourself. This has nothing to do with spontaneous generation and Pasteurization has zilch to do with this question.

Spontaneous generation, for sure! LOL!
