It's only legal if you lock your doors, close the windows, lock the bathroom door for safe keeping, and then get under the sheets to have a smoke. And then you better not exhale. Other than that, you are totally screwed and you better deny everything. "It was Canada's fault". That's the excuse us Americans use, it works.

I have been in bars where they will allow smoking to continue as long as the patron knows they are going to pay the fines if they get caught. I have yet to hear of anyone being fined in the bars as of yet. If it is a restaurant, absolutely not, smoking is not permitted. Period, end of story. Let's see, Disneyland has "smoking areas" seems as if the areas outside of the "smoking areas" are often found with smokers lighting up as well as at the California State fair. St the Santa Cruz Boardwalk I saw someone warned not to smoke or they would be fined. Im a California native and that is what I have seen thus far
