Cause nobody wants to be taxed?
If you're looking for the "textbook" answer, they probably want to hear that Americans felt they were being taxed without representation.
The truth is more complex. Britian really had some justifiable reasons for taxing the colonies - wars fought on their behalf were quite expensive. The colonies were probably looking for an excuse to break away as much as any real grievances.

The King and government of britain have been 3,000 miles from the yankee colonies, yet they persisted to place taxes on the colonists for wars the English have been struggling with in Europe. the yankee colonies have been nicely widespread and the financial gadget become becoming, the colonists had to direct their own financial gadget and society, not being instructed by utilising a miles off government what to do and whilst to do it.
