I really like to go to concerts but I hate how there is always an opening band. I know it helps them get promoted, but when I go to a concert I want to hear the band I paid to see not some other band. Is this wrong?

No, It's not wrong, but you might miss out on a new up and comer. In I think '91 or '92 in Austin, Tx.( I know I'm old) I went to see Red Hot Chili Peppers and they had two "no-name" opening bands called Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam. Great show for a $30 ticket, I'm glad I stuck around to hear them, they were awesome and 1-2 months later they started getting radio airtime. Give them a chance.

Nothing wrong with it - although there are many cases of opening bands becoming much more popular than the band they were opening for (or switching bills because their popularity increased while they were on tour). So it'd suck if you missed the artist that next month costs 3 times more to see.

Chances are the artist chose the opening band cause they thought their fans would like them. But as someone else said, it's what you consider getting your money's worth (the headliner or an evening worth of entertainment).

Not at all. Opening bands usually suck. The only argument I offer is that of a local band. Some Huge Bands offer local bands, local to that area, as an opening act and that can be really cool. Otherwise opening bands can eat my *** with a spoon. I saw Hoobastank as an opening band, and it nearly killed my will to live. I had no opinion on Hoobastank before that concerrt, but after it, I wanted to cut my own throat. They are such awful "studio" musicians that it nearly killed me I am still alive today, even though I saw hoobastank in concert. My name is Nick, and I saw hoobastank live. Thank you. it took many years of therapy to get past it.

Yeah i could, no question You hate Nickelback and Slipknot greater suitable than New young toddlers on the Block, G-Unit or The Jonas Brothers?? Edit: @that's Spinal faucet Fan...They Did. i think of. @Nightlife Commando: Oh in simple terms admit you hate Nickelback. how are you able to not? and how can they be worse than the Jonas Brothers? I as quickly as had to stay by using an hour of Girlicious (some feline Dolls by-product) at a Backstreet Boys stay overall performance. as though that wasn't undesirable adequate...I had to observe some slutty no-expertise lady band yodel for an hour.

If you want to hear the band buy a CD. Concerts are a promotional device.

no, but like the last person said, you could miss an awesome band that you might like or some good music. when i was went to go see Hinder last, i personally couldn't wait for them to come out and perform since they were the band that i mostly wanted to see. so i was kinda getting bored and anxious just listening to the opening band. but the opening band wasn't bad, but i was just looking so forward to seeing hinder perform.

ive seen some incredible opening bands that ended up becoming huge and i was glad to see them before they were (a bit of bragging rights, lol) sometimes they were even better then the headliner, the way i see it if you go out to dinner and the appetizers are complimentary are you gonna turn them down, because you only want the main course.thats just me though

It's not 'wrong' but you could be missing out on some awesome music. I guess it all depends on whether you want to stick to the same old, or broaden your horizons a bit...
