Inside and outside

If the ball is solid then the 2 sides Southern hemisphere and North hemisphere. Or Easten hemisphere and Western hemisphere.
The word hemisphere literally means "half sphere" or "half ball"; when used in the singular form, it refers to one of the halves of a spherical object.
Or like the moon if a ball has a light shining on it the light side and the dark side.

If it is hollow then there is the inside and the outside.

Front and back...And the side towards the back will always be the Dark Side. But if this freaks you out, try inside-outside, North-South, East-West, Upper-Lower, Good-bad, Painted-Unpainted., Realistic-fantastic, Value-worth, Excercise-Entertainment....among many other sides....

Semantics...

So, what does this have to do with the...history? Anyway, here's the answer: a ball, actually, has hree sides - outside, inside and offside ( I hope that you like football/soccer).
