if there is a naacp why is why not a naawp for white people ?

i am not racist i just feel if your a minority you have all these programs to turn to but if your a poor white male your you have substantialy less options i do not think its fair

The thinking is this. If you're a member of the majority, you don't need programs and societies and associations to make sure you have the same opportunities. What majority doesn't take care of their own? Obviously this concept doesn't translate as well in the followthrough.

The world is imperfect, and people are just trying to make the best of a bad situation. This country has been working one way for so long that it's now the established pattern and will continue to be for the forseeable future. This pattern is that black people need to be "helped" and "paid back" for the gross injustice of slavery. Even today, the legacy of slavery still hurts our people. I could go on, but what would be the point. Everyone here has probably heard this all before. So we have the NAACP and Affirmative Action and many other aids to the black people. Why? Because some genuinely feel guilty, some geuinely want to help, others want to appear to care and still others want to milk this for all it's worth. Personally it galls me that there are so many programs set up out there becuase supposedly I can't do it on my own because I'm black, but at the same time I know the reality is that I am in the minority and there are numerous members of the majority who would like to keep me down. That having been said I probably still wouldn't protest if it weren't the reality, because why protest a leg up when you're trying to climb over the fence? (The fence here is success, not racism)

One other point to be made on this topic, though, is this. There is a NAACP because Black people started one. There are many aids and helps because many black organizations contibute. Black people as a group are acting as groups do; looking after their own. It's what the majority should be doing. (Granted that's not all the majority should be doing but it's one of their jobs.) If you want an NAAWP, then white people should start one. (There is a risk of looking racist associated with this though. It's a double standard I know.) Black people as a group are no difffernt than Catholics or Steel Workers. We do what groups do. We just tend to make more noisse about it than most.

In that time it was necessary because of the way some whites were at the time. Many people that weren't black had more opportunities than blacks. Next time you post a silly question like this, learn your history. I also looked at your profile and discovered that you ask some pretty...odd questions.

Because "white" is a race, not a culture. Black is a race as well, but they have came together as a culture. White people have not. We are all of different cultures and have to find out where we came from in order to promote it like they do.

You are right in your thinking, but then we would have to have options like this for irish, german-, british-, austrailian-, and other -americans.

I have often wondered about that. Who helps us advance? We've never had opportunity before. My friends of other cultures think all white people had slaves. My great grandpa's best asset was his one mule and a hard working family.

Because it had it's place at one point in time. However, now that we've really reached equality, it maintains that things stay that way.

I fully agree. If there can be black only scholarships, there should be able to be white only sholarships. To me, it has gotten to the point of reverse racism.
