y = -4x + 1 if we follow the slope format based on line equation, its: y = mx + b where, m is the slope and b is the y-intercept (where you start) therefore m = -4 slope = -4 the rise over run is -4/1 meaning: four steps down, one step right -or- four steps up, one step left the drawing of the line slants towards the right and passes through the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quadrants.
